Prithvi Theatre Festival

You loved Casino Royale and Dhoom. Canned action keeps you on the edge of your seat, but you’re still craving some live action, aren’t you?

PrithviTheaterFest

Sanjna Kapoor’s Prithvi Theatre Festival comes to town this weekend. Six of the 28 plays staged at the annual Mumbai festival earlier this month will hit the stage at the Kamani Auditorium.

Kharaashein features National Film Award-winning actor Atul Kulkarni, and is a collage in Urdu of Gulzar’s poetic writings on communal riots. Mahadevbhai is a light piece in English based on the daily diary of Gandhi’s secretary. Shambukvadh comes from the prestigious Jana Natya Manch group, and is a satire in Hindi based on an episode from the Ramayan that will appeal to mythology lovers.

Also playing are Ramprahar & Malabh (in Marathi), Cotton 56, Polyester 84 (in Hindi), and Bhagavadajjukam (in Malayalam, English and Hindi).

As the Bard once said, the play is the thing.

Performances on December 2 and 3, at 11am, 3pm and 7pm. Kamani Auditorium, 1, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi. Telephone: 23386251.
