Dinner with The Family

April 9, 2007

Go Sicilian at Vetro

The Godfather’s shown you how The Family that eats together, stays together. And now your family can join them right here, not in faraway Italy, because Vetro’s cooking up a menu of Sicilian specials starting this week.

Sicilian Fest at Vetro

Sicilian cuisine is all about homegrown wholesomeness. Fresh Mediterranean seafood and robust vegetables grown in Mt. Etna’s fertile soil, and influenced by settlers from Arabia, North Africa, Greece and Egypt. Our Trendy Taster, who’s had a taste of heaven in Sicily herself, gives the good ol’ meeting-of-index-finger-and-thumb sign to this authentic festival menu.

Try the Involtini di Pesce Spada e Tonno con Mollica di Pane Salsina di Arance Sanquinelle (a soft and succulent roulade of the swordfish in blood orange vinaigrette) and the Antipasti Pittoresco (seasonal veggies with barley salad and the country cheese — Caciocavallo). Dry, robust wines from Tasca D’Almerita — Nozze D’Oro (2005), Chardonnay IGT (2002) and Cabernet Sauvignon (2001) — marry the myriad flavours and textures.

As Puzo would put it, say, ‘Benvenuto a Tavola!” Welcome to dinner.
