Paintings by Shola M Carletti at Olive
Gustav Klimt, the Austrian Symbolist renowned for his use of gold and other brilliant colours, was always your favourite. His original work, alas, may be too expensive — not to mention inaccessible — to consider putting up on that large, vacant space on your drawing room walls. So your search for that special canvas continues.

Step into a world of intensity and paint with Shola M. Carletti’s latest exhibition at Olive, Silence in between Colors, and watch the way colour can transport your senses from the sensual to the sublime.
The graphic designer from Italy, who has flitted in and out of India for 12 years in her search for meaning, has combined gold powder, translucent varnish and the Indian sun to interpret the silence between colours.
Resembling abstract stained glass windows, with translucent terracotta, vermillion and brilliant turquoise, leaded with gold, Shola’s works are meditative.
The white backdrop of the canvas gives it a befitting pause. And the thick layers of paint give them a textured, three-dimensional feeling.
You may not even miss the Klimt.
